Setting your goals

Open the Stats tab. Under Targets you can set your calorie and macro goals by hand, in grams or percentages. Not sure what to aim for? Use the built-in TDEE calculator: enter your stats and activity level, pick a goal (maintain, lean cut, cut, lean bulk, or bulk), and the app sets your daily calorie and macro targets for you.

Logging food

On the Diary tab, tap the + on any meal (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, or Snack). Search for a food or tap the barcode icon to scan a package. Set your serving amount and log it. Your day updates in the ring at the top.

Seeing where your macros came from

On the Diary tab, tap any colored slice of the daily ring. The ring highlights that macro and a leaderboard shows exactly which foods contributed to it today. Swipe between protein, carbs, and fat.

Checking a food against its label

The first time you log a branded or scanned food, Macros shows a Nutrition Facts card so you can confirm the numbers match the package. Once you confirm, those values are saved and are not overwritten by later database updates. You can review flagged foods anytime under Stats → Check food data.

A food’s numbers look wrong

Food databases are crowdsourced and are occasionally wrong. When you log a food, use the label-check screen to correct it against the package, and your corrected values are locked in for that food.

Apple Health

If you allow it, Macros writes the calories and macros you log to Apple Health. It never reads your Health data. To change this, go to the Health app → Sharing → Apps → Macros, or Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.

Deleting your data

Your food diary, custom foods, saved meals, and goals live on your device. Deleting the app removes them. Nutrition you previously wrote to Apple Health stays in Health, where you can remove it at any time.
