Macros — Calorie Tracker · Effective July 24, 2026
Macros (“the app”) is a calorie and macronutrient tracker for iPhone, developed by Mariano Cardenas (“I”, “me”). This policy explains what the app does with your information. If you have any questions, contact macrosapp.support@gmail.com.
Your food diary, custom foods, saved meals, and daily nutrition goals are stored only on your iPhone, using Apple’s on-device storage. This information is never sent to me or to any server, and there is no cloud account or backup service built into the app. It stays on your device unless you delete it.
If you grant permission, Macros writes the nutrition you log — calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat, and fiber — to Apple Health, so it appears alongside the rest of your health data. The app does not read any information from Apple Health.
When you search for a food or scan a barcode, the app contacts three food databases to retrieve nutrition information:
Requests to FatSecret travel through a small relay server operated by the developer (hosted on Cloudflare). The relay exists only to attach the developer's API credentials; it forwards just the search text or barcode, stores nothing about you, and keeps no logs of your queries.
These requests contain only the barcode or search text needed to return results. They do not include your name, your Apple Health data, your food diary, or any device identifier. Results are cached on your device so previously looked-up foods work offline.
To comply with Open Food Facts’ access policy, requests to it identify the app using the developer’s contact email in a standard technical header. That email is the developer’s, not yours.
The app uses the camera only to scan barcodes in real time. Camera images are processed on your device to read the barcode and are never saved or transmitted.
Macros has no login or account system. It contains no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or tracking software of any kind, and it does not track you across other apps or websites. It includes no third-party software development kits.
The app is not directed to children and collects no personal information from anyone. Because it collects no personal data at all, it holds no information about any user, including children.
Because your data lives only on your device, deleting the app removes its stored food diary, custom foods, saved meals, and goals. Nutrition you previously wrote to Apple Health remains in Apple Health (managed by Apple); you can remove it from the Health app at any time.
The food databases above receive only the barcode or search text described in Section 3. Their handling of those requests is governed by their own policies:
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
